BOYS AND GIRLS SOCCER CAMP
(JUNE 24 - 28) (9 AM - 3 PM)
The Spartan Soccer Camps are open to those who are in grades two through eight for this upcoming school year. (The camps are not open to rising ninth graders.) The boys camp is in its 26th year while the girls camp is being run for the 14th time. Although they are being held the same week, the boys and girls camps will be run independently of each other on the spacious grounds and using the excellent facilities at St. Mark's High School when enrollment allows. For the girls and boys camps, players will be separated according to age and ability, and our goal will be to teach the players basic soccer skills and expose the more experienced player to higher level skills. Also, each player will play both indoor and outdoor scrimmages each day.

Camp Directors:
Tom DeMatteis - Coach DeMatteis has an extensive background in soccer camp instruction, holding a National Coaching Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He served as the boys varsity soccer coach at St. Mark's from 1986-2010. He also served as varsity girls coach at St. Mark's for 14 years. During Coach DeMatteis's 25 season as boys coach, St. Mark's won the state championship 11 times, and finished as runner-up four times. Eight of these teams were ranked nationally by the NSCAA. The girls team won four state championships and four other times reached the state finals. He was named Regional Coach of the Year by the NSCAA in 1990 and by the NHSACA in 1998. Also he was voted Coach of the Year by the Delaware High School Soccer Coaches Association in 1986, 1993, and 1999. Also in 1999 Coach DeMatteis was named NSCAA Private/Parochial National Coach of the Year. Several of Coach DeMatteis's players have gone on to play soccer at the collegiate and professional levels. He is the state's all-time winningest coach in both boys and girls soccer with over 550 wins.
Jeff Northey - Coach Northey is a former standout player for St. Mark's. In addition, he has served as the JV coach for both the boys and girls teams at the school. He both played on and coached numerous state championship teams. He works as a grade school teacher and has an extensive background in soccer camp instruction.
Cheerleading
(JUNE 24 - 28) (6 PM - 9 PM)
The Spartan Cheerleading Camp is open to those who are in grades two through eight for this upcoming school year. Cheerleaders will be grouped together according to ability. Throughout the week, instruction will be in all areas of cheerleading. We will focus on the proper technique of jumps, stunting, motion drills, and ultimately body control. During our Spartan Cheer Camp the athletes will learn a small routine consisting of cheers, stunts, jumps, and a dance. On the last day of camp we will hold an in house showcase open to all parents to see the progress their athlete has made.

Camp Director: Meghan Radulski
Coach Radulski is entering her fourth year as the head cheerleading coach at Archmere Academy. A former cheerleading captain for St. Mark's High School (Class of '01), Radulski began her coaching career at her alma mater in 2006. In her role as St. Mark's Varsity Cheerleading Assistant, she helped lead the Spartans to three consecutive DCCA State titles ('08, '09, '10) and helped advance many cheerleaders to Division I success. She has choreographed successful cheerleading and dance routines for Archmere, St. John the Beloved, and The Tatnall School.
Baseball I
(JUNE 17 - 21) (9 AM - 3 PM)
The camp will feature personalized instruction on pitching, hitting, and offensive skills. The camp will include small group instruction on pitching mechancis, techniques, and velocity improvement. Offensive skill work will include a variety of hitting drills, bunting, and base running. The campers will view baseball videos daily and all players will receive a camp work sheet at the end of the week. This camp is open to students in grades two through eight for the upcoming school year.

Baseball II
(JUNE 24 - 28) (9 AM - 3 PM)
Personalized instruction on all skills of baseball will be given by Coach Smith and his staff. This is a great camp to complement summer programs, and to increase the skill level of all players. The camp will cover hitting, throwing, fielding, bunting, base running, pitching, and position play. Players will have the chance to work in small groups where the emphasis will be on teaching sound baseball skills. We will view baseball videos daily, and all players will receive a camp work sheet at the end of the week. The camp is open to students in grades two through eight for the upcoming school year.

Rookie Baseball
(JULY 1 - 3 & 5) (9 AM - 12 PM) (NO CAMP JULY 4TH)
Sign your child up now for this unique type of camp being offered through the Spartan Sport Camp. This camp is specifically designed for young baseball players who are 6 or 7 years of age. This baseball camp will run for half day sessions using the outstanding facilities of St. Mark's High School. The camp will work on teaching fundamentals like throwing, catching, hitting, bunting, fielding, and base running. Parents are encouraged to come to camp and participate in learning with their kids. Players will be placed in small groups and have the chance to practice the skills that they have learned. Scrimmage games will be held daily to work on all aspects of playing, and learning the game of baseball.
Cost: $115.00 which includes a $75 non-refundable deposit that will be applied to tuition.
Camp Director: Matt Smith
Coach Smith is in his 16th year as the head baseball coach at St. Mark's. Smith coached the Spartans to the '12 state championship. His '99, '03, '04, '05, '07, '09, & '10 teams won the state championship as well. He has been named Catholic Conference Coach of the Year six times and has also coached in the Delaware High School All Star Game and the Carpenter Cup All Star Classic in Philadelphia. Smith, who played football and baseball at Ursinus College, has a career record at St. Mark's of 268-58. Many of his players have gone on to play college baseball, and three of his former Spartans have been drafted into professional baseball. Coach Smith was named Coach of the Year for District 2 for 2004.

The Spartan Wrestling Camp is open to those who are in grades two through eight for the upcoming school year. Wrestlers will be separated according to ability. There will be a beginners (basics) group and a more advanced group. Our goal will be to teach all wrestlers basic wrestling skills and expose the more experienced wrestlers to higher level techniques. Instruction will be in all areas of wrestling with emphasis on takedowns and takedown counters. Escapes, reversals, pinning combinations, and leg wrestling will also be covered.

Camp Director: L.A. Collier
Coach Collier has been coaching high school wrestling for the past 12 years at The Tatnall School, Hodgson Vo-Tech, and St. Mark's High School. Prior to taking over as the head coach of the nationally renowned Spartan squad, he helped guide Hodgson to three team titles (one as head coach and two as an assistant). In addition, he was twice named by his peers as the Division II Assistant Coach of the Year (2006 & 2007). After his successful run at Hodgson, he came over to his alma mater and made an immediate impact as he assisted the St. Mark's team to another state championship, the school's first victory at the prestigous Virginia Duals, and an impressive national ranking in 2009. In 2010, his first year heading the St. Mark's team, he was able to guide the Spartans to the state dual meet finals. Coach Collier also had an impressive wrestling career. The 1998 graduate of St. Mark's was a four year Varsity wrestler, a three time state finalist, a 1998 state champion, and a competitor on three state championship teams including being a captain of one of the most outstanding teams in state history during his senior year. After his high school career, Coach Collier wrestled for natioanlly known Calrion University.

Whether you're an experienced football player or you want to try football for the first time, this is the camp to get you ready for the upcoming season. The Spartan Football Camp is designed specifically to teach young players entering grades three to eight for the upcoming school year, proper techinques and fundamentals of football. Players will be placed in groups according to age and/or ability. The camp features a fantastic group of teachers, coaches, and players who know how to make the game of football fun and exciting. This is a non-contact camp emphasizing running, receiving, throwing, and kicking. The camp will also emphasize specific football agility and stretching drills to improve speed and quickness. Chalk talk sesions will feature discussions on the rules of the game, play design, teamwork, comittment, and leadership. Afternoon sessions will feature 7 on 7 football games that will highlight the skills learned in camp.

Camp Director: John Wilson
Coach Wilson is entering his 9th year as the Head Football Coach at St. Mark's. He was named 2010 Coach of the Year after leading the Spartan football team to their first State Championship in 32 years. Coach Wilson has also served as a coach in the 2006, 2009, 2011, and 2013 Blue-Gold All-Stat Football Games. He has experience working with a variety of different camps, and he knows how to organize and operate a fun camp that also teaches the funadamentals of the game of football. The Spartan camp staff will consist of local high school and CYM head coaches.
Football Developmental Skills

The Developmental Skills Camp is a perfect addition to the Spartan Football Day Camp for students entering 6th through 8th grade for the upcoming school year. The Football Day Camp teaches the fundamentals of all aspects of the game; the Development Skills camps takes it a step further by specializing in teaching the skills that will improve the football player at his specific football position. Each session will last approximately two hours. Players will be grouped by offensive and defensive postions. Campers will learn skills necessary to perform at their position in a competitive practice environment coached by high school coaches. Campers will also learn training techniques to develop speed, agility, strength, and flexibility that are specific to the sport of football. Daily and weekly rates apply. Mondays will be offensive skills, Wednesdays will be defensive skills, and Thursdays will combine both offensive and defensive skills. Quarterback training will be provided on all camp days.

Not old enough to attend the Spartan Football Camp? No problem. The Beginner Football Camp is specifically designed for young football players who are 6 or 7 years of age, and will run for half day sessions. This is a non-contact football camp. The camp will work on teaching the fundamentals of playing football such as throwing, catching, kicking, punting, blocking, running, and form tackling. The camp will also emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and having fun. Players will be placed in small groups to practice these various techniques and skills. A snack should be packed for the break that is provided each day in the middle of camp.

The Spartan Volleyball Camp is open to girls who will be in grades four through eight for the upcoming school year. Players will be grouped according to age and/or experience level. The camp will emphasize the fundamentals of serving, passing, setting, and hitting. Offensive and defensive systems will be introduced. The goal of the camp is to develop player skills through a variety of drills and competition and to increase the player's knowledge of the game. This camp runs from Monday - Thursday.

Camp Directors: Nancy Griskowitz & Dana Griskowitz
Coach Nancy Griskowitz, class of '85, has coached volleyball at St. Mark's for 24 years, Coach Griskowitz, who played varsity volleyball at St. Mark's and the University of Delaware, has been the Head Coach at St. Mark's for the last 15 years. These teams have compiled an overall record of 273-55 and captured seven State Championships, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2010, and 2011. In addition Coach Griskowtiz has an AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) CAP 1 accreditation. A number of her players have gone on to play collegiate volleyball at levels ranging from Junior Collge to Division I.
After coaching at St. Mark's from 2008-2012, Coach Dana Griskowitz, class of '08, is now a member of the University of Delaware volleyball program as their Graduate Assistant and Director of Operation. At St. Mark's, Dana was the head freshmen coach for three years and a varsity assistant for four. Dana has coached travel volleyball with Club Delaware for two seasons, as an assistant to the 12 and under team and then as a head coach to the 13 and under team. The niece of current St. Mark's varsity coach Nancy Griskowitz, Dana is a former player who won a state championship in 2006 and was recognized as a First Team All-State setter her senior year.
Lacrosse

The Spartan Lacrosse Camp is open to those who are in grades two through eight for this upcoming school year. Lacrosse players will be separated according to ability. There will be a beginners (basic) group and a more advanced group. Our goal will be to teach all players basic lacrosse skills and expose the more experienced to higher level techniques. Instruction will be in all areas of lacrosse with emphasis on ground balls, passing, and shooting.

Camp Directors: Mark Reynolds & Scott Cook
Coach Reynolds was an assistant coach at St. Mark's for two years before taking over as head coach. In high school,. he was a two time all-state selection and then continued his lacrosse career at national powerhouse Salisbury University where he competed for two national championships. Coach Reynolds is also an assistant coach for the Silverbacks Lacrosse Club's high school team and an assistant coach for St. Mark's wrestling team.
Coach Cook has been with the St. Mark's lacrosse programs for the past four seasons. Prior to joining St. Mark's he has run the Middletown Lacrosse program increasing it from 35 players to over 200. He has coached football, baseball, and lacrosse since leaving Wesley College over 10 years ago and has been coaching lacrosse for the past nine years. His teams have been successful and his positive approach to coaching has demonstrated his commitment to winning and having fun.
